Just when I think I have these two figured out! I thought for sure Momma had stopped at 4 eggs. Once again she proved me wrong. 5 eggs on her second brood! Dad is hanging around with the Juvy’s and they are all coming to the meal worm feeder. He was teaching the 3 boys to hunt off the fence yesterday. So neat to watch. It’s the first time I have seen the Juvy’s in all the nestings I have had over the 6 years beyond the initial fledging day. The Juvy’s seem to be familiar with me as much as Mom and Dad are and quite vocal when I bring the meal worms out in the feeder that they clearly recognize!!! Hoping for a successful hatching!

Rich, my 2nd nest is going almost exactly like yours – 5 eggs, seeing juveniles, etc. Amazing how they know us when we put those worms out. I have been splitting out worms into two bowls because 6 grown blues in one cage feeder gets very crowded, so I place another small bowl close to the cage feeder.
My hatch day should be this coming Wednesday. Good luck to everyone.
