Here are a few posting tips for The New Bluebird Nut Cafe:

To Create a new topic, click the Create New Topic link once you are inside the forum you wish to post in:

      Create new topic

Use the composition box for creating your post. You can use bbCodes in your post in addition to the ones available in the top grey bar above the composition box by entering them manually. (Just in case you want to get fancy!) Here are a list of the common bbCodes you may like using:

      BBCodes

If you make your post, and realize you’ve made a mistake, you have 10 minutes to edit your own post. Edit by using the “Edit” button above the post.

      Edit

If you’re looking at a topic that’s already been started and you wish to reply, click the “Reply” button in the top grey bar above the post.

      Reply

If you want to “Subscribe” to a topic (get e-mail notifications whenever a reply is added), click “Subscribe” in the top grey bar.

To unsubscribe to a subscribed topic, simply click the “Unsubscribe” button. You should stop getting reply notifications.

When you are looking at the topic listings, you can see which topics are unread or have new replies by looking at the color of the ‘exclamation’ mark to the left of the topic title. Green means new, grey means you’re all caught up on that topic.

Or, if you’ve read all the topics you want to read, and want to mark them all read, you can click the “Mark All Topics Read” button.

You can subscribe to the entire forum – get notifications whenever a new topic is posted – by clicking “Subscribe” at the top of the topic listing, just under the “Mark All Topics Read” button.

      read-unread

In order to post images in the forum, you will have to have an online photo storage account somewhere, such as Photobucket or pBase. When you want to post a photo, click the ‘img’ button in the top grey bar, then enter the url of the image in the box that pops up. You can enter alt text for the image in the next screen if you want to, but it’s not required.

To use the emoticons, click the word “more” beneath the first row of emots under the message composition screen. (Yes, I know the word is half cut off -I’m trying to resolve that, but have been unsuccessful so far.) The full list of emots will drop down, and you can choose the emot you want by clicking on it. The bbCode for that emot will appear in the composition screen, but when you submit the topic, the emot will show in image form. We’re going to be paring down the number of emoticons available in the next couple of weeks, so please visit the “Help Us Pick Our Emoticons” thread and post your favorites before they go bye-bye. To close the full list, scroll all the way down, and click the word “Less” at the bottom, just above the submit button.

That’s all for now – if there are other questions related to posting in the forum, let me know.

        Posting images in the forum.

In order to post an image in this forum, you will first have to upload it to a photo sharing site that allows hot-linking. There are many free ones, Photobucket is one of them, but certainly not the only one. Then all you will need to do is find the direct link to the image you want to post (not to the page the photo is contained on – the link to the image itself. Most photo sharing sites will show you this link.) See screenshot:

Then, there are two ways of posting the photo here. Either one works just as well.

        1) Copy the “bbcode” of the image, if your photo sharing site gives you that, and paste it into the message box. (In the screenshot above the “bbcode” is in the bottom box circled – the one that says IMG. It’s the code that contains the opening and closing [ IMG ] tags.)

        2) If your photo sharing site doesn’t give you the IMG code, just click the “img” box just above your message screen. A box will open where you can drop the Direct link. (In the screenshot above, that’s the link in the top box circled.) The software for the forum will then automatically create the tags for you. (See screenshot below.)

Marcel, you are using the wrong links. You’re using the link to the PAGE where the photo preview is shown on Photobucket. You need to use the link for the photo itself. Don’t copy the address out of the address bar – use the link on the right hand side of the screen in Photobucket – the one that says Direct if you’re going to use the ‘img’ button, or just drop in the entire line of code from the IMG box…

Photobucket has changed its policy and NO LONGER ALLOWS LINKING. (Unless you pay crazy fees, outrageously high)

Other forums I am in have switched to IMGUR, but there are likely other options out there.

One does not catch a glimpse of a bluebird by chance because it is a clear indication that happiness is coming your way when you see a bluebird. In many cultures, the bluebird is known as a symbol of happiness. That’s what I think

The most important bluebird symbolism is linked to the color of their feathers. Blue is the color that represents peace, contentment, purity, honesty, and innocence. That is why bluebirds are considered messengers of love and joy.
