My second brood is 15 days old today. The parents are working like crazy to feed these babies. They have to be pretty big in there! No babies are peeking. They just call out for more food. I know it’s probably a waste of time, but I soaked craft sticks in ammonia and stuck them in the mulch around all of my big pine trees. I am praying that this keeps the neighbor’s cats away. I want these babies to make it!

Oh, I hope they make it! Maybe if they keep out of sight the cat will be stay away. Are you figuring this weekend they are due to fly?

I saw a little one peeking this morning. I had to leave for the day, and I think they fledged while I was gone. I haven’t seen the parents. Even when I was hanging out around the birdhouse, the parents didn’t come out to keep an eye on me like they usually do. I don’t want to risk opening the box in case they all didn’t go (there were 5 in there). I’m pretty sure they’re gone, but I am going to wait until tomorrow to observe the area and see if I spot the adults. Hopefully they are all staying safe!
