Yesterday (Saturday) it rained all day, about 3″ total. When I checked the box today, the bottom was slightly damp inside, but the babies seem fine. I couldn’t tell if the nest was damp without disturbing the little ones. They are only about 5 days from fledging, so I don’t think there is anything that I could safely do. Your comments would be appreciated.
You can’t do anything right now and with them 5 days from fledging it would not be advisable to disturb them. After they are gone, you need to better weather proof the box. A bigger roof or maybe some calking could be in order. Is the floor recessed? That would probably help also.
