I have seen a pair of Chickadees going in and out of one of the boxes in the back yard, so after dinner I walked down and there are at least 3 babies and 3or 4 eggs in the nest. My gosh how cute they are. I will definitely go down tomorrow and get a picture. Nature is sure beautiful.
Connie (PA)June 7, 2019 at 6:36 pm #7392Connie, I have never seen chickadee babies….lucky you! They seem to be sweet little birds. In the winter when I fill the bird feeders they will stay within a foot away from me watching and waiting. All in the joy of birding.

ConnieJune 8, 2019 at 11:49 am #7398David, if you can give me some guidance on posting pictures I will gladly share them, but I have no idea on how to begin.
ConnieJune 8, 2019 at 2:35 pm #7400The recommended way (see the stickies) is to open an account in an online service like Imgur.com. You load your photos to your account. When you want to post them to the forum, you click on the photo to post. On the right side of the page will be a list of different posting codes. Select the one labeled “BBCode (message boards & forums)”. This copies that line of code beginning with “img”. Paste that in your post where you want it to appear. Try it to see how it works. I will be glad to assist if I can. If you would like to send me a photo to post for you attach it to an email. I just replied to your “PM” from April with my address. Sorry for not reading it sooner

ConnieJune 10, 2019 at 7:56 am #7420Team work! Thanks for sharing the chickadee photos. Looks like there are 4 hatchlings and one, maybe two eggs that didn’t hatch? Keep the pictures coming, they will only get cuter each day. Interesting nest….what is the white fluffy material?

June 10, 2019 at 8:43 pm #7427Judy, to be honest with you I am not sure, it is like cotton, maybe the fluff from a sycamore tree or from dandelions. The nest is like the Ritz so luxurious and soft with all the moss and fluff. Amazing from such small birds.
ConnieJune 10, 2019 at 8:59 pm #7429Dees always make the best nests! They will use most any kind of fluff: insulation fibers, animal undercoat, etc. When I had a champion shedding dog, I used to collect his undercoat and put it out for them and the TUTI. They love that stuff.
The chicks are so TINY that it makes sense to build a nest like this. They are such delicate little things.
