Hey everyone, this is my first year with BBs and it’s been so interesting and beautiful watching them. Our clutch was attacked by sparrows but after diligently removing HOSP nest in the BB box, BBs (not sure if it’s the same pair) have set up in the house! This morning first egg was laid, sparrow spooked immediately installed, and I am hopeful!! I noticed that the past few days leading up to this only the male was seen and usually alone. I actually was worried something happened to the female because before this week, the pair was always together! Lots of mate feeding and generally hovering around the box together. When female is in egg laying mode does she hide? Male seems like a protective dad, perching protectively around the box all day today. Would love to hear insights on their behaviors :)
