Well, as of today my mama blue laid her 2nd egg, but very strange thing happened. We checked the box yesterday around 1 p.m. (late enough I thought for any egg), and low & behold, she was on the nest when DH opened the box & quickly closed it back. She did not budge and I really believe she was in the process of laying this 1st egg. Scared me really bad, but she apparently laid it because around 5:30 p.m. we checked and there it was, and this morning she laid the 2nd one bright & early I believe. WOW – what a late season this is, but at least they have an active nest going. I have trapped several sparrows in the other boxes, so I immediately put up the sparrow spooker last evening & watched this morning for her acceptance. Yeah!
