Finally – 5 babies!

Boy, it has been a long, hard first nesting, but I finally have 5 baby blues, hatched on Saturday. I did watch parents on Sunday and they did go in box & feed some, but this morning it was like an assembly line. First mama would grab some worms, make a run to box – then papa was ready with his worms for the babies and on & on. I believe in less than 5 minutes they had made at least 10 trips to the box. In between the parents were finding bugs, etc. I am keeping my fingers & toes crossed though, as I do have a wren flitting around our home, and very close to the nestbox. I do have a spooker and wren guard on . . . . .

Congrats!! Hope the wrens don’t find them.

I have a box (in the woods) of Dees, should be hatching any day now, and a woods full of wrens. So far so good!!

I think you’re through the hard part with the wren. Another 10 days and you can remove the guard. Yay!!!

Thanks, all. Gin, I sure hope you are right about that wren. So far I have not seen it try to go in the box, but then again I do not watch 24/7.
