Well, nestbox #2 has 5 new babies in it, hatching about two days ago. Parents are already bringing them mealworms, which I thought was a little soon, but they may have hatched sooner than I thought. Now, all I have to do (ha, ha) is keep the other 3 boxes which have 2 HOSP and 1 wren claiming them in tact. I will probably be putting in my Van-Ert trap today for the two HOSP and just keep taking out the sticks of the wren. Nothing like keeping busy!
Carol, thanks for sharing this update!! I’ve been wondering what’s happening. It’s so exciting! Just think of all the action you’ll see with 5 babies! Those parents will be feeding like mad. Loved what you wrote—nothing like keeping busy. So true!!! Best wishes on catching those HOSP and keeping that wren active. Just imagine those wrens talking at supper. They’d be saying, “I know I put those sticks in there yesterday, but they’re gone again!” Keep up that great work!!
