It has been busy around here and I have not been at the forum for a while so here is an update. Following the fledge of the second nesting on July 22 I did not see much of the parents or the fledglings until August 2 when dad appeared with 1 of the young. The next day mom came with 1 of the young so I was concerned with how many had survived the heat and rains that we have had. Yesterday, two of the young came with the parents but stayed on the shepherds hook. That was encouraging. Then today there was a flurry of activity in my neighbors tall maple tree as I was putting the worms in the feeder. I came inside to see what was happening and saw 4 little ones follow dad to the feeder cage. Grabbed my camera and got 4 of them at the cage. The little one on the left never entered the cage. I saw it later with mom bird. She went in the cage, grabbed a worm and flew to the hook. Little one followed and begged for the worm. She flew off leaving the bird there, without the worm. He flew back to the feeder and sat on that same spot looking in at the feeder bowl. I got tired of watching to see if he would go in and went back to cleaning the computer room.

    Here is the brood.
