Found blue feathers in the yard today, pretty sure it was the male of the pair building a nest here. Primary flight feathers with a couple of the rusty breast feathers, no mistake.
I’m pretty sure a red-shouldered hawk is the culprit, its been hanging around regularly. i moved the regular bird feeders away from the house so they wouldnt attract so much attention . Makes for a subdued Easter.

This is sad, Chris – there again, Mother Nature is showing who is boss. Hope you get another pair.

Dang! That stinks! I found some also over the winter as well, only secondary feathers so I don’t know if it was killed or not. So many hawks in our area.

The widowed female bluebird came to eat mealworms today. I’m hopeful another pair will show up.
