We have baby blues. 3 of the 5 have hatched and it looks like the other 2 are picking at the shells.

Stafford, VAThanks David, so very good to see. It was such an exciting thing for me to see new life begin. I am still waiting to see if I am going to snag a pair of BB’s this season.
Connie (PA)David, congrats on the new baby blues! But aren’t they unsightly looking when first born to be so beautiful around fledging time. Great pictures – Connie don’t give up – I thought I was not going to have any nestings but ended up coming home from a few days vacation and found 1 egg and now 5 are being incubated. There was no sign of even a nest when I left and was only gone 3 days.
Carol – similar situation here. Left for a few days and came back to a nest. I guess the birds don’t like us watching them so close. They have their own time to do things. When are yours due to hatch?

Stafford, VAI have not given up yet Carol. I read my journal from last year and a pair of BB took up residence on May 22 and started building a nest on the 23rd so there is still time for them to show up.
Our weather has improved, even though there is more rain on the way.
I took a 2 mile walk tonight and where I generally see them at the farm down the road there was not one to be found. I am hoping with the cold, wet weather we have been getting they have not shown up here in large numbers yet. Time will tell.
Connie (PA)My daughter just had a bluebird start a nest recently. They started and finished it in a day and a half. So it’s definitely possible, Sassy.
