I have 4 – 5 bluebirds in my yard every morning which I love watching. They fly in and out of my bluebird houses and throughout the yard. I assume they are my babies from this spring. I don’t know if it is just one of the birds or many that keep on flying into a window. It seems to be just one of the birds. It is not just one window it is multiple ones at my home and the home next door. They don’t seem to be flying hard enough to hurt themselves. Does anyone know why they do this?
When they simply fly at a window most of the time they see a reflection of the outside world and think they can keep on flying. When they do battle with a window it’s because they see themselves and think it’s a rival.
Can you cover the windows, spray something on them temporarily, or put little sticky things on them?
I think it’s just a matter of time before somebody gets seriously hurt. That happens a lot.
Thanks for the information but unfortunately I can’t. The bird is flying into about 10 different windows between my house and the neighbors. I suppose I can try to just keep distracting them but then they just go to another window. I pray they will be OK.
