I have a male bluebird that harasses every other bird it sees. Chased the nuthatches out of their nest (smaller opening). He didn’t have a partner for a long time this spring. Finally a female showed up and she built a nest Then I saw him run her out of the box, then stuck his head out. No eggs spring or summer. He still comes and checks the box and the tries to run the other birds from the feeder. Have come close to introducing him to a pellet but couldn’t do it.
Any suggestions how to discourage him from coming around? Would love to have him gone so next spring I can have a nice BB family.
Percy, personally I have never had this matter to deal with, so can’t really help. Maybe he will be gone by next season . . . . . The only thing I can think of is taking the box down for the winter until he gets the idea. I can’t imagine a male BB chasing his mate out of their box . . . .
