Today I happened to be looking out the kitchen window, saw a bird land on the empty BB box that is paired with a box that has 2 day old bluebird babies. I get the binoculars and see it’s a male HOSP…..he enters the box. The female HOSP is on top of the box. Papa bluebird sees the female and runs her off. He then looks in the box with the HOSP inside. He continues to keep his head poked into the hole (I’m saying to myself “don’t go in, don’t go in”)…he goes in‼️ I quickly ran out to the box and opened the door. Papa blue flew out then the HOSP. Just wondering if you think papa blue would have been killed if I hadn’t intervened. I was not taking any chances. I removed the box.

Odds are good he would have been killed in there. Good move on your part. Is there a spooker on the occupied box?

Yep, the occupied box has a sparrow spooker on it. It’s working great ….the HOSP around my place have never bothered a box while one is in place. It’s a great invention, a must have for bluebird helpers.
