I knew bluebird eggs are usually blue, sometimes white, this one is pink. I looked on the Sialis website …..it says they can be pink and as they mature they will turn white. Have some of you bluebirders had the pink eggs before? I’m learning new things about these bluebirds everyday. Put the wren guard up today.

June 17, 2018 at 8:56 pm #6606Judy, I never heard of a pink BB egg, that must be cool to see. Any more eggs since and what color are they?
Connie (PA)June 18, 2018 at 5:53 pm #6609As of today I have 3 bluebird eggs, all pink. They have accepted the wren guard and a HOSP spooker too. Wrens ruined the 1st nest of 5 blue BB eggs in my front paired box. This is a different pair because the eggs are pink. They are also in a paired set of boxes. The other box has TRES in it. The TRES are ahead of the BB by a week to 10 day. I’m hoping for a successful nest this time. I have read the TRES and BB will help protect each other’s nests. Is there a way to post photos of the eggs?
Thanks,
Judy-MichiganJune 20, 2018 at 5:23 pm #6615I am too lazy to figure it out but would LOVE to see your pink eggs!
June 20, 2018 at 9:21 pm #6617Judy, I believe you must have a photo sharing account (like Photobucket although they do not allow free 3rd party sharing any more) and then you can post it here. There are directions on how to do this at the top of the home page under Posting Tips, then find “How to post a picture”. I wish we could post photo more easily, also. David posts some pictures but don’t know what he uses. WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT PICTURE OF A PINK EGG!! Be sure to take picture of those eggs so maybe some day you can post it here.
June 21, 2018 at 10:49 pm #6623I tried to post a photo using google photo……..sorry it didn’t work. Update…… had 3 eggs laid, checked on day 4. In the nest were 2 eggs and I found 2 eggs on the ground. The Blues didn’t give up. On day five they laid one more egg, making a total of 3 eggs. The egg removal was the work of the nasty wren. I have the wren guard up and a sparrow spooker. Since this has happened the blues are watching their nest much more closely. They also have the help of the Tres in the other paired box 15’ away. I hope they are able to keep the wren out of the boxes. Today was the 1st day of brooding.

June 21, 2018 at 10:53 pm #6625Didn’t get the photo. Can you use “imgur”? It is very easy to upload your photos and to copy the link that you would past in your post.
Edit – okay I did a “right click” on the broken image icon and selected “open in new tab” and the photo came up. The eggs are a nice light pink. I have never seen these in the years that I have been into Bluebirds. Looking forward to the full brood and hatchlings.Second edit – decided to get the photo up so everyone could see it. Saved in to my “imgur” photos.
