I noticed yesterday that the bluebirds had put the starting “ring” in the bottom of the nestbox. This morning they were both in and out of the box with beaks full of nesting material. So hopefully we wikk have the second eggs by the 4th of July. http://bluebirdnut.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/hoppingblue.gif

Nice! Do you have an idea if they are younger or older birds?

Waiting on mine to do their second. I’m thinking they are younger because it took them forever to pick a house and eventually build a nest. The male has been in and out of it pretty frequently but the female hasn’t until today she went in. So I’m guessing it’s soon. 3 of 5 survived the last brood and I’m thinking that’s only because the day they fledged, that night it poured all night. Not windy or cold really, but big down pours. If they’d waited one more day woulda been perfect. That’s their life tho, not easy.

Thanks Dave. I believe that my pair are the same as the last 2 years. Both started feeding at my seed feeder last year and they continue this year. I am not sure that a new female would go for the seeds. This one does look a bit older.

Three here so far! Their first brood was 5. We’ll see this time, I’m guessing 4.

How many did you end up getting?
