      Should I give up at this point for the year? Has anyone ever had a pair start a nest in late July August? In the Mid Atlantic region?

      Still hoping I get lucky this year in the yard but so far havent seen blues here since mid June.

        Don’t give up. I just returned from a trip to Phoenix and found a nest almost complete. both birds were carrying grass into the nest today. this is 2 weeks from when the 2nd group fledged.

            I agree with David don’t give up yet. Just today I had mama blue looking at a box. Her second brood fledged 18 days ago. Normally she has an egg laid 2 weeks later, but we have had weeks of rainy weather. I think the weather delayed her plans. Mosquitoes are so bad here ….sure hope all the birds get busy eating them. We can’t do anything outdoors without getting attacked. Good luck.
