I’m sure many have had this happen – well this morning for the 2nd time this summer, I had a hummingbird trapped in my garage. There is a google search I found about using the tines of a leaf rake to lure the bird out. Well, the 1st time this year I did this it worked but it took a lot of time & effort. This morning I hung a mini plastic h/bird feeder on the tines of the leaf rake and the bird IMMEDIATELY went to it (of course, this started out high to the ceiling). He stayed on the feeder thinking it had nectar in it and I gently lowered the rake and went out the door with the bird & it flew off – WHEW! This took less than 5 minutes after I rigged up the rake.

Carol, that is a wonderful tip. I have not had it happen to me but my neighbor had one in her garage a few years ago. Now to remember what to do if that situation should arise. Thanks.
