Haven’t posted in awhile, primarily because I have nothing interesting to say, but I have been following along. Congratulations to everyone who has experienced success, thus far! My pair fledged five in May, and the next five will leave the nest box in about a week. Today, however, I was in my driveway, 75 feet from the nest box, taking a photo with my iPhone of my wife’s new car, which I had just finished detailing, to send to a colleague who is in the market for a new vehicle. Out of nowhere, Papa Blue begins to dive bomb me, relentlessly. I “barked” at him, and he retreated to his branch. As I returned to taking pictures, he attacked again. I then realized that he did not like the phone, because I use it to snap pictures of the nest when I monitor the box. So I put the phone in my pocket, and he left me alone. For kicks, I walked to the other end of the car, further away from the nest box (now 85-90 feet away), took out my phone, and started taking more photos. He dive bombs me, again. Repeatedly. He’s a smart little bird… or completely nuts! :) My family and I then climbed into the car, and drove to Maine for lunch.

Randy, that is very interesting – never have I had my blues dive bomb me. P.S. They know where their goodies (meal worms) come from! I don’t take many pictures of the babies, but when I do I have no problem.

That’s pretty funny. I think I would have gone out to lunch also.
