Hi all,
The two bluebird babies from this 2nd brood are due to fledge next week. Originally it was three babies but one died not long after it hatched. The 1st brood eggs and young perished from the cold snap we had here in Pa. This is the 1st season I’ve only had two bluebird babies the entire summer. I’m hoping next year this bluebird couple will have better luck. Still, two babies is better than none. I would love to see a 3rd nesting from this pair but here in Pennsylvania it’s not always a given.
Dana, it has been a tough year for some here, including myself. My 2nd nesting of 5 eggs only resulted in one fledging, as the other eggs were not viable. I call it the “Lone Ranger” and it will have some siblings in about 2 weeks, as my 3rd nest has 4 eggs and mama is incubating them now. Sure hope your two youngins fledge successfully.
