      Anyone have any unusual or interesting birds eating their mealworms?

      Lately I’ve had a veery hanging out and eating dried mealworms. Its a type of thrush, slightly larger than a bluebird, kinda plain looking. It has a gentle disposition, i took several pics but with a cellphone they turn out grainy of course.

      Spring migration peaks around now where i live, curious if folks have some of the more unusual species visiting the feeders.

        Carolina wrens like them. And the damned horrendous starlinga love them.

            Yes, almost any bird will eat mealworms (I use live but apparently they like the dried also). That is why I have two caged feeders – even with these I have had “slimmer” birds like cardinals & bluejays get in the cage. I usually try to watch the feeder some until the blues have finished them.
