      Hello

I read a number of on line folks recommending to use fishing line to discourage house sparrows English sparrows from trying to occupy a blue bird house. It’s recommended to install fishing line when installing a new house, which I just did.
      Thanks

Here’s the best way to use fishing line. I’ve heard this works well and it can be kept on the box instead of taking it down in between nests. https://ohiobluebirdsociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Monofilament-Sparrow-Spooker.pdf
Did you just decide to put up a nestbox? I thought you were mainly interested in feeding them only? I’m excited for you. You’ll love it!

Yes I put nets box yesterday and I put the fishing line on it. It’s probably to late to attract a nesting pair this season, but I’m hopeful some will stop by and start getting some live meal worms
          Thanks

A tip, just in case, maybe you are already thinking the same thing or maybe not, but even with your anti-sparrow measures, keep an eye on the nest box for house sparrow activity. Keep an eye out for other critters, too. Wasps come to my mind.
