Thank you so much. I will get a pole and move the box right away.
Thanks Dana. I was so disappointed that they left!! I am thinking of ways to get them to stay next year and hopefully it will work. I wish I knew how to keep them here all year long like other people have done. I am so jealous!!
Thank you for your response. It was definitely cardinal feathers in the box but how they got there I can only guess. I never saw the birds near it just found the feathers in it. Bizarre. The box is clean, no bugs or bees, no other signs of birds near it so I am not sure whats happening. My box is on a tree relatively close to my house and very near a field. It is about 6 feet off the ground. I have put out meal worms and in the past have seen the blue birds swooping down to get those worms. I just wish I knew what was going wrong so that I could fix the problem.
Hello, my name is Linda and I am from southern NJ. A year after my mother passed away I put up a bluebird box and my father said that he had done this for many years as they were my mothers favorite birds. (I did not know this). As we were talking out in my yard he explained that he had never seen a bluebird on The Farm (the term we used for our properties that all connect) and that I was wasting my time. I told him that I was pretty sure I had seen one and he scoffed. A few minutes later as we continued to chat, a male blue bird landed in the yard not 30 feet from us. We both looked at each other and started to cry. THAT is how I have come to look forward to seeing the bluebirds each year but now have some concerns that I need help with…looking forward to entering this realm and enjoying pictures and stories.
