Tammy, The mailbox took me to the directory and there are 3 Cheryl’s listed. One is just Cheryl and the other 2 are with the same last name. Don’t know which one? I don’t see her username. I’m probably not doing somethjng right?!

I agree with Julie! I started out on this journey by accident. I have had a couple of bird houses here and there for a few years and would get blackcapped and HRENs nest. Never even knew about bluebirds until end of March when my neighbor said she saw a pair in my woods next to my hous So i watched for them. Then in mid April I saw a male BB perched on my old birdhouse in my backyard one morning and I was ecstatic! That’s when my obsession started! This scenario went almost perfect until the female layed 1 egg and then never came back. I asked myself why did I get teased and overjoyed to being sad. Haven’t seen any Blues since then. We put other houses up thinking another pair would come in. Moved them around, did extensive researching and reading to feed my obsession. Instead I have a TRES pair…LOL. well, God taught me a lesson. Take a step back. It will happen when it happens or may never. So I am satisfied with the TRES and they are enjoyable to watch. I know the confusion u are experiencing, Carol. You are being a good landlord. Enjoy your beautiful Blues!

Correction: LIVE on edge of woods!

Just wondering if any of you have your BB boxes facing the north. I know preference is facing east but sometimes not possible for open placement. I love on edge of woods.

Wow! How cool! That is an exciting way to entertain youself with the feathers. They are quite aerobatic.

Julie,it is exciting to hear u have a new nesting. How many eggs so far? Tree swallow is in my other bluebird box. Haven’t checked it for a few days. First time I encountered one. Was circling around me! I am very new to this. A lot to learn. I am trying to be optimistic another bluebird pair comes in. It is what it is. 😒

Thank you. Praying another pair comes in 😇🙄

Yeah. It is discouraging. Will keep u posted. I heard a male singing for a female and then another male came in and they fought over territory. 1 male went into box and then came. They flew away. No female came in. This was 2 weeks ago. Nothing since then.🤔😔

Hi. Was wondering if I could get a hit someone out there!!
I researched a bit and the data from 2021 said the BB population went down from the bad ice storms in Texas that year. Maybe still recovering? Will have to wait and see at the end off 2022 when data comes in. Really sucks to us upper northeast!😒🙄Robbe, West Bend, WI
Forgot to mention that i cleaned out the first nest to encourage building a new one

Thank u for replying! I live on the edge of woods with open areas. Thinking of putting one in pasture too. Maybe they will pick that but can’t see from house so will have to walk down there. That’s the only disadvantage to that. Sounds like u have a lot of activity by you! I guess i can only pray the BB pair or a new pair come back! Since momma didn’t come back, now the chickadees are checking it out. Then there are the wrens. Another force to be wreckon with. I have 3 of those boxes right on the edge of woods. Haven’t seen them yet.

Julie i got the pictures. Thank u and they were in spam. I am new to this bluebird experience. How far apart are your BB boxes? Are they just in your backyard? I have 1 up in my back yard. Been reading that boxes shouldnt be near a barn or paddock. That is where my other 2 are and have sparrows trying to nest. Need to move them. I know the BB like open spaces? None of my boxes are your type Gilbertson. You have better luck with them?

I don’t see the momma. Just the male. He came today and looked in box. It has been 4 days now since the 1st egg was layed. Something must have happened to her😔
