i took pics of my nestbox trap operation. The orange dot wears off, i put garage sale stickers so i can see when the trap has went off.

I then use a plastic bag in case the sparrow tries to escape:

I didnt photograph the sparrow, i figured i might generate some concerns on the imgur website. i just now realized you can make those hidden so the squeamish don’t protest.

Nice work. I started using the clear outdoor bags as well because several times my laundry mesh bag had a tiny seam rip and somehow the sparrows can immediately escape any weakness.

Chris, nice work – glad you did not picture the sparrow – no need to do that. By the way, is your box hole 1 1/2 inch diameter – it looks a lot larger – probably my new glasses.

Carol, this box is inch and a half, its a Nature’s Way box, but it does have some wear on the edges.

Lucky box for me, last year it fledged a total of 9 birds (in two sets of course!)

I think the only boxes i have up now that have larger entrance holes is the Peterson they are nesting in now, i believe that is 1 9/16 inch and elongated.

I’ve thought of putting up a box with a large entrance hole and nestbox trap just specifically for trapping starlings.
