      I am back after a couple of years to get over the 2023 HOSP issue and get the blue bird nestbox cleaned up and restored. I now have a new nest – even though it is still playing in the 30’s and 40 degree temperatures at night.
      They just finish the nest today but I have not seen them return. Maybe waiting for a warmer weekend.

        It’s amazing how long it takes them to finish that first nest and start laying!! Only one or two people have been posting here this season so far.

            And now we have an egg. It is still cool in Virginia and next week temperatures are expected to fall into the 30’s at night for 4-5 days. Hopefully the female can keep the eggs warm during this next few weeks.

                    And now we have 5 eggs. The female was sitting on the eggs and flew off as I approached the nest a few minutes ago. It is cool, so I am going to avoid the box for a while. If my numbers are correct, we should have hatching on April 20. More to come later.
