      Hi all,

Bit behind in my posts. My second nest fledged a week ago Saturday, and the new nest was started this week, roughly a week and a half break i think? Been busy with life lately.

I started using these amazon blink cameras to record wildlife, didnt specifically buy them to record bluebirds yet but maybe i can catch some stills to upload. i had to deal with some groundhogs digging under my house, i caught the last one tonight.

i did record one clip of a bluebird eating mulberries off the ground with the blink – ive learned everything eats mulberries – raccoons, opossums, skunks, robins, you name it.

Chris, this is so interesting! I have an elderberry shrub in the front flower bed 20 ft from the bluebird box. I’ve noticed the male bluebird divebombing any bird that goes near those berries! I hope to get some, but we’ll see. He’s clearly been feasting on them. Btw I usually put holly branches with berries in pots on the porch in winter, and the bluebirds visit those to eat the berries. Congrats on another nest!!!

          Thanks Julie.

I tried replying two weeks ago but the forum was acting up. Since then i did happen to see a young bluebird eating elderberries out back. Where i live my elderberries ripen a bit later than yours. I grow several varieties of elderberry, including scarlet or red elderberry. These have bright red berries that ripen in june instead of august like the american elderberries. The catbirds here love them.
