I Found this forum so I thought I would join,
WE had a successful year with Bluebirds, raised 3 young ones which flew off the nesting box around early June, they disappeared for several weeks as they were hiding in the trees I assume, Mom & Dad were at the feeder every morning waiting for their breakfast of mealworms, this went on for some time and finally the 3 young ones, which were much bigger finally showed up with mom wanting fed. We have been watching them grow, seen many different personalities from them as they grow, looks to be 2 males and one female. Yesterday I witnessed the young ones cuddling on top of the feeder, that was very cool. This morning I think mom has finally had enough of babysitting as she wouldn’t feed them, she was running from them with the mealworms. It’s time for them to grow up. We have a bird bath out there and watch them bath frequently and this morning a 4th young one showed up, not sure where she came from, looks to be a female. So all is good and It’s a lot of fun watching them progress through life. I have made a nice winter roosting box for the bluebirds with perches inside for winter as well, We will put that up probably in late September, October, depending on the weather.Welcome Stephen. It’s enjoyable seeing posts about your bluebird experience. It’s been fairly quiet here this summer but always welcome to see posts about birds, nesting, nest box designs you use, etc.
If you have time throw together a “signature” and tell us a little about your location. Just a state/province or region of a state/province would be great. For instance I am on the WI/MI border north of Green Bay. We don’t have winter EBB residents here. I believe you’d have to go a couple hundred miles south to see winter.
