Has anyone actually experienced delayed incubation/hatching? I’ve read it is possible and it has been fairly cold here, but never actually experienced it before. Eggs were supposed to hatch 5/2 at the latest. Both parents are still around and the female seems to be incubating still.

I have not experienced delayed incubation, but I have read that mama blue can wait a few days before she starts incubation. Could you tell if she started incubation after the last egg was laid? I hope someone with more experience can be more helpful. Good luck, I hope you see hatchings soon.

I’m with you, Meg. I hear about delayed incubation but I don’t think I’ve ever experienced it and I’ve been at this a long time. I’m afraid for your eggs. Did they hatch?
I’ve had so much heartbreak already this year so I feel for you.

No unfortunately they did not hatch. Both male and female are still around and actively visiting the box though, so I won’t remove the eggs. Hopefully they will start again soon.

When it’s been too long, I would just remove the eggs so they can start over quicker. I always give it extra time though, just to be safe. I’m sure you’ve already done this by this time.
