      Last night when i checked the bluebird box, a downy woodpecker flew out. BB nest is newly completed, no egg yet. This morning i found the downy in there again. It was 42 degrees this morning.

      The mom and dad BB hang around close by in a tree, they haven’t abandoned. I’m hoping this is the last time the downy does this, weather is warming up.

      I’ve found downies roosting in boxes before, the one he used previously is occupied by chickadees.

        This is interesting, Chris. Hope those blues chase him out.
