My four bluebird babies will be fledging soon – been so much fun watching mama and papa going in and out of the nestbox to bring them food. Hope they fledge successfully!

        Good news!

I had two eggs in a nestbox on Wednesday last week. I expect when I return on Tuesday I’ll see a few more nests and hopefully eggs.

Carol, Nice to hear from you, I miss your posts. Glad you have babies ready to fledge soon. Hope they wait for a beautiful calm day, unlike some of yours in the past during a storm!

TimC, Congratulations on your 1st 2 bluebird eggs. I’m sure you are going to have a busy year with all of your trail boxes!

Tim & July – thank you for your responses – I have been having trouble posting on the forum and finally got hold of Tamsea to help me – SHE IS GREAT. – believe she is also known as Tammy. She has been involved in the BB forum for LOTS of years and is of great help.
Yes, I am patiently waiting for my 4 baby bluebirds to “fly the coop”, although I will miss watching them every day. Had my son who lives in the Dallas, TX area call me today and said he has some new BB eggs in his nesting box, and that the eggs were WHITE. I told him “like son, like Mom” because last year I had 4 WHITE eggs in my main nesting box. I assured him that they were okay and that the baby birds would be blue!
            Good luck to everyone.

Just wondering – has anyone else had white BB eggs at any time?

I have. Out of nine broods last year one had five, all white. And so far this year (from Wednesday’s check) I had two eggs in one box and they were white.

Otherwise all blue broods last year.

Yep, I had white eggs one time about 8 years ago. She only had one nesting. None since, but it would be cool to have again.

Glad you’re back on, Carol. I was starting to worry. I’ve had two white egg laying females at my house. One a long time ago and one recently. I didn’t have white ones this year or last year. And I have two white egg nests on the little 13 box trail I monitor. I like it because you know you have the same Momma when that happens because they will lay white eggs their entire life.

Yesterday. This is my first fully developed nest and first eggs…

Tim, congrats on your nest and on the “different” white eggs, which will truly hatch baby blue birds! Good luck.

Well, my 4 bluebird babies have fledged and believe they are in the trees somewhere close to home, I’m sure. Have not seen them but believe they are out with their parents somewhere learning how to catch bugs and other foods! Hubby and I have cleaned out their box well today and put it back up hoping the parents will start another hatch soon.
What is more fun than watching and observing nature! (P.S. Funny, but doesn’t take much to have loads of fun at 80 years old!)

Congrats on your four new “grandbabies”!

They are interesting to watch. I hope I get a pair in one of my yard boxes.
