      Heyyy everyone!!
Back , in Ontario with news of blues !! (Yayyy).
      It’s been awhile !

There’s been a ton of activity here and there was a bunch of squawking happening between blues TReS and HOSPs. I came out and in my house saw a male HOSP.. over anxious to protect my blues, I chased him out, found a very tall nest that looked a bit scraggly… assuming it was his and anxious to set a vanERT.. I pulled it out .. too quickly to realize it was blue construction …
Mama blue I swear gave me a dirty look.

I tried to semi re-construct and replace but … haven’t seen my blues since the “incident”

Looking for advice. Do you guys think I should leave it another day, or take out my human-made mess and hope they start over ?

      Thanks …
      I feel so bad.

        Hi Courtney,
The first thing I would do is trap and dispose of the house sparrow. Once you’re rid of him then see if the bluebirds return. When fixing the nest try to form a cup shape at the bottom maybe the bluebirds will still accept it. If not and they don’t return then I would remove the nest and let them start over fresh. In the meantime I’d offer them some mealworms to entice them to stick around. Keep us posted. Anyone else want to chime in?

Dana is right. The blues will rebuild a messed up nest. don’t let it go too long as momma bird may be ready to lay eggs.

          Thanks guys
I did end up taking it out but I haven’t seen them back. :(

I have TRES in my other box I think but no sign of the blues.

Fingers crossed here that another bluebird pair will find and use your box! It’s still early enough in the season.
