Can someone remind me again the best place to get bulk mealworms? We’ve had a boat ton of rain in Western PA and Momma and Papa are battling the elements. TIA
June 19, 2025 at 11:08 am #28332Live, I don’t know. FWIW I’ve been buying dry mealworms and dry BSF larvae through Amazon in 10-pound packages.
June 19, 2025 at 11:34 am #28333I get live mealworms from Fluker’s. Living in Tennessee, they arrive quickly and are very lively. Uncle Jim’s Worm Farm is in PA so may be better for you (have never tried them). Looks like Amazon may sell Uncle Jim’s also.
June 19, 2025 at 4:12 pm #28334Like Jean said, Fluker’s is a very reputable company. I don’t normally buy from them but bought crickets for my purple martins later winter/early spring. They saw that the crickets were running late and was worried that they would die so they re-sent my order and texted me about it without me even realizing that the crickets may be late. I was impressed. I freeze the crickets and offer thawed ones to my martins. My bluebirds LOVED them too. I like that I don’t have to keep them alive.
I always buy mealworms from Rainbow Mealworms in bulk, 5000 at a time. I think they are from CA but they are a great company and usually they have been cheaper than other companies. They have wonderful customer service too.

I get 5k live meal worms delivered automatically every month for $46 from The Bug Company. You have to call to get it set up initially.
I find that 5k worms is just enough to keep 2+ families fedChris

July 5, 2025 at 9:31 pm #28387I grow my own mealworms. I started with 1,000 mealworms from Wild Bird’s Unlimited. Then I ordered 5k from The Hive Queen in Raleigh, NC. I now have about 600 female beetles lying eggs. I should see lots of little worms in a few weeks.
I know that Hive Queen in limiting deliveries during this heat wave. Check the MW sites for their “hot Weather” shipping notices.David
Stafford, VAJuly 7, 2025 at 9:03 am #28389Watch out for meal moths or pantry moths! I did this once and never again. I had them in my basement because the garage was too cold during the winter and meal moths laid eggs in the wheat bran substrate and I didn’t see the cotton candy like webbing in the containers and before I knew it there were meal moths ALL OVER my house. I still have a few. But not like before but it’s from the seed in my garage. It was awful! But I envy you at being able to pull this off!!
