Well….I was expecting 5 bluebird eggs, but this nest only has 2. It’s been 4 days since #2 was laid. Mama and Papa are going in and out. This is the pair that claimed the Tres nest as their own. Mama blue was not accepting of the wren guard. I’m wondering the cause of so few eggs. Maybe she had a couple nests going or could have been the crazy cold and rainy weather.

Can you tell if she has started to incubate the 2 eggs? It is unlikely that she would have another nest going.

Stafford, VADavid not sure if she is incubating. She has been around more the past 2 days. She does go in the box for awhile, then I’ll see her poke her head through the hole looking out, blocking the hole. She will stay like that 5-10 minutes. Papa blue has been around too.
My front yard blue mama is seldom seen and papa blue is on look-out. Back-yard pair are very different in behavior.
