Papa has been singing on top of the box since first-light (he will not let any squirrels or chipmunks within 30 feet of the box), and Mama has been in and out all day. Fledglings are in the trees nearby. Pretty quick turn-around.

Randy, that is quite quick – congrats – Mine are due to fledge around next Wed. or Thursday. We are going to be gone for a few days this weekend, so hope everything continues to go well.

Yours will be fine. Is it going to be terribly hot while you are away?

Lisa, it was sooooo good to see papa blue back on the box, this morning! He is such a great little guy! We are leaving for a couple of days, but I am pleased, knowing that my pair already has plans for a second nesting… and it is only early June!!

Hooray Randy! I loved seeing dad bringing mealworms to roosting mom in the box today. So cool!

Randy, I did put my heat shield on before we left town because it was supposed to get into the 90’s. We got back ast evening and everything seems to be okay, with parents bringing them worms, etc. Of course, I could not look in because it is too close to fledging time.

That’s great! It is 95 degrees here, today. Mama and papa blue have ceased all nest building activity. Cooler temps by the end of the week. Good luck with your impending fledge!!
