Here on my 2nd nest in Ohio, it has been hot and raining like crazy. Last night i checked the box, still 5 eggs, but mama nowhere to be seen. Just before dark i sat out some mealworms and mom and dad came and ate, but mom wasnt sitting on eggs. Its been in the 90s.
This morning, i whistled and mom came out of the box. i had 3 eggs on May 31st, so im calculating if the 5 are fertile that they may hatch around june 16th. (laid 5 and started incubating probably june 3rd)
Do BBs not sit on the eggs much when it gets really hot, or close to hatching? Ive been worried too about the monsoons, the roof on this box is split and lets in more water and light.
Chris
p.s. on top of that, they dad keeps checking out a second empty box, which made me think they had given up on this one.
