Well, I have 5 blues eggs which mama started incubating on Thursday, June 4. Our temperature high today was 91 degrees and tomorrow is supposed to be 94 degrees. SO, we just got through putting on my heat shield. What a gadget – cedar box, wren guard, sparrow spooker and now the Styrofoam heat shield, which has a very large overhanging top. I have no shade whatsoever on any of my boxes, except one will gets a little shade in late afternoon. Our area (but not my town) got hit with horrible wind storms last night and we drove to an area and just went two blocks and saw 3 huge uprooted trees which landed on owners homes. Haven’t heard yet is there was anyone hurt, because this was very early this morning around 3 a.m.

Well, I had a date wrong, she began incubating yesterday, Wednesday, June 3. She accepted this new decoration to her box and went right in about 5 minutes after she had her worms and we got out of the way!

Carol, your box sounds so funny with all the add-ons! So glad she popped right in after the newest addition. We also had those storms. It was something else. The only damage here was to perennials–so thankful. The 3 little blues had fledged a few days prior. I can imagine that was quite a wake-up call to the outside world!! We had straight line winds for nearly an hour, along with tornado sirens blaring. Our area was unscathed in terms of toppled trees that we saw. Storm damage is no fun! I do wonder what those little blues thot of those winds!
