Mine did the same thing. I believe the chicks need water/moisture which they cannot get from the dried mealworms. The parents go out and get real bugs which will provide the chicks with the necessary water/moisture that they need. I actually bought some live mealworms and the parents fed those to the chicks. When the chicks get a little bigger the parents will feed them the dried mealworms.
