Nice photos Cher!
Hi Everyone,
The Cowbirds are still around, whenever I see them I turn the garden hose on them hoping that they will move on. We have 5 eggs in the nest and hatching date is around the 27th. I have an additional curious observation….it seems like one of the males from last year’s fledglings is still hanging with the parents. I finally looked at him through my binoculars today and after doing some research he appears to be a second year. I know from reading past posts that this is unusual, however the three of them seem to be getting along just fine. I always appreciate your comments! SusanI am in lower Fairfield County, CT and our male and female have been building a nest for close to 2 weeks. The recent weather (2 days of snow and wind) has slowed their progress even more. The nest appears to be nearly finished. They are around during the day and in and out of the box. There is another male with them…they do not seem to chase him away. Perhaps one of last years offspring? I am hopeful that the warming trend later this week will encourage some egg laying. They are ahead of last nearby two-three weeks. Hope that this helps.
