Hi all! I’m happy to report the bluebird eggs in my nestbox are in the process of hatching. The female had laid a total of 5 eggs. Three of them hatched, the other 2 are in the process of hatching!

April 25, 2018 at 1:12 am #6252Hi Carol, thanks!
I don’t blame you for being jealous. If I was in your situation I would be too.April 25, 2018 at 11:06 pm #6261Congrats from me too Dana. I saw a pair of blues today down the road a ways, I keep hoping a pair will take up residence here soon.
Connie (PA)April 27, 2018 at 1:58 pm #6264This year has been crazy! I have SIX eggs in one house (first time ever over 4 years) but my other house had 4 and one day I found an egg outside and looked and I only had 3. (raccoon most likely) anyway, today 6 days later, I looked, as it is time for them to hatch and there are 4 eggs. OMG what is going on?? Has anyone ever heard of laying an egg six days later. If I didn’t have someone here that saw it too I would think I am going bluebird nuts….lol
Seriously though, Its got me perplexed!!!!!April 27, 2018 at 7:04 pm #6267Dana, Congratulations on your new brood. Ours are late getting started this year.
gardensong, Never have seen or heard of it happening but that doesn’t mean that it couldn’t happen. Could another female Blue taken to the nest also?

It is highly unlikely that the same female laid an egg 6 days later. Notice I didn’t say impossible!
