Thanks, Gin. I have enjoyed my anesthesia career, and I have enjoyed my healthcare executive roles since. I just wish someone would pay me to fish (full time) and serve as a bluebird landlord (after hours). I have run the idea by my wife, and she didn’t “shoot it down” so much as… well, laugh…

Bedford, New HampshireJuly 18, 2017 at 10:20 pm #5704Thanks Gin! I saw there was a section for off topic stuff but as Randy can attest I was too lazy to go there. Ha!
Seeing a hawk and a snake in one day would have me a little flipped out. I see hawks but they are really high over the woods across the golf course from me and so far not too close. Knock on wood. Maybe they are busy eating snakes. One cans dream, right?July 18, 2017 at 10:23 pm #5706I find this site much more fascinating than putting in my billing at the end of the day..much more user friendly as well.
July 19, 2017 at 1:10 am #5707Wow! What state do you live in, Meg?
I live in CT
July 19, 2017 at 6:01 am #5708I live in PA, and in 23 years I have only seen one tiny garter snake on my property. I just can’t imagine walking around with snakes hanging from the trees. I know they’re here in PA, I’m just glad they’re not at my house. I do have a lot of red-tailed hawks, however.

PennsylvaniaJuly 19, 2017 at 3:34 pm #5711Yep I used to live only 10 min from here in a less wooded area and like you only saw one or two tiny garter snakes. Now I live on the edge of a nature preserve and everything under the sun wanders through LOL. A few years ago we had a 4ft rat snake sunning itself on our front porch. Although the snake hanging 15ft up in the tree was a first for me. Surprisingly though HOWR are still the only issue I’ve had in my boxes so far. Maybe there’s just plenty of other food for everything else.
July 19, 2017 at 7:34 pm #5712Well, my husband and I are going to be moving. I guess I will try to avoid the woods!

PennsylvaniaJuly 21, 2017 at 10:07 pm #5742Good thinking Susan, here in this area of PA we see snakes on and off through out the summer, but we are close to the woods. Never saw one near the BB boxes or any of the other bird boxes but then I am not outside continually to monitor that situation. So far no poison ones but they exist here as well.
Connie (PA)July 21, 2017 at 11:03 pm #5748We have evil rat snakes that love bluebirds. It’s awful. I love Mr. Kreuger. Even though I’ve never caught one in his trap invention I think it deters them. They don’t want to enter that mesh maze I guess.
