Congratulations Connie! How exciting. I put out mealworms, but all I see eating them are other birds. Mine are the dried type…..I’m sure live worms are tastier. Good luck.

        Hi Judy:
Well I took the nest out and carefully moved each baby blue to find the unhatched egg and it was not there. Also moved the feeder and mama was having a fit, not that I blame her. We left to take a ride and when we got back about 4 hours later there were two ground sparrows eating the mealworms. I did not see Mama or Papa Blue and I thought my meddling and the feeder might have frightened them so bad they left. Then Papa showed up and was feeding the little ones and the sparrow scared him off, so my husband removed the feeder entirely. They will either have to learn how to use the new mealworm feeder in the back or fend for themselves. The pair I had where the female kept seeing herself in the windows earlier this season knew how to use the feeder but these two seem oblivious. That is the reason I keep thinking it is a different pair. Who knows.

Yup, sounds like a different pair. I also worry about meddling, you never know what to expect…. since the blues do not follow the rule book. We can just do our best to help them. Best wishes for a great season.
