EABL and CACH will use the same size box with the same size entry hole. I offer them boxes with the same specs and then use a reducer if necessary.

Renee is right about the EABL entering and destroying eggs. Seen that. If the hole is already smaller (is it 1.25″?) the blue shoulders won’t fit.

CACH don’t need sawdust in the bottom of a box. They are going to carry in tons of green moss as a base and then line the cup with even softer materials.

      Ospreys! Lucky you!

The Bluebird Box has the 1 1/2 hole and Chickadee has the 1 1/8 hole. Funny to see the Bluebirds trying to get into the Chickadee Box but they also investigate their own box, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for both. I will keep y’all posted!

The bluebirds have not showed up past 3 days. The nest is completed so I presume they’ll return when she’s ready to lay the eggs. The weather in Mobile has been very mild this winter. The mowers cut the grass today. First time I can remember them doing it in February. The pine warbler visitor sang for me the other day. Beautiful. Almost like a canary.

OK. I think I should get a baffle for the pole that holds the Bluebird Box. What do you recommend? I have squirrels, raccoons, snakes and other critters. I looked at an 18 inch Audubon Wrap around OR I could make one according to what was listed on this website. However, it seems like the one on the website could work like a step for a raccoon. I will do whatever you recommend. Do I need one for a Chickadee Box?

Wobbling baffles are actually quite effective. Nothing is a 100% guarantee though. Squirrel size baffles are for feeders but the raccoon size will keep most things out. You do need to mount it on a pole and grease the pole up under the baffle to keep out the ants if they should wander by.

Both of the boxes need baffles.
