I’ve had a male bring at least 7 females to one of my boxes. All have rejected. I don’t know why. It’s been used in the past. Anyway he finally found a female. She started building a a nest, now shes nowhere to be found. I live in Western NY and we’ve had a ton of rain. My question is. Will she pause building the nest while the weather is so poor? Or is she number 8 in the rejection list.
I don’t know if they are different females. It’s 3-5 days each time a female would show up. He presents her the box. She would look it over for 15-20 mins. Then she would fly off. In between that time he’d do his calling. The female started building her nest thursday morning. I still see the male in the morning. I haven’t seen her since. Like I said in my first post. It’s been rainy and cold here.
There is no way to know right now if she is still around and alive. Sometimes we just have to wait and see. The weather could be a factor and maybe not.
