Wondering if anybody had thoughts/experience with this. The female finished the nest and it seems higher than the last one. It’s about 4 inches from the camera mounted in the roof. Is this too small of a space? Or should I trust that they know what height is good/not good. Was thinking about taking the cam out.
Is the nest cup deep? The only worry is if the nest cup bottom is also near the opening a predator bird can easily grab the nestlings. I know from experience. But if the bottom of the cup is low and deep the tall sides don’t matter. Sometimes I have a nest where the base is too thick and I take off the bottom section of the nest and that works.
It’s hard to tell. Not super deep it seems. I did see her still working on the mold of the cup so I don’t think she is quite done yet. It does have the extra thick hole cover but I understand the predator concern. One good thing is the cup is offset towards the back of the box. There’s not much I can do so I guess I just have to monitor.
