Today was day 27. She is still brooding but I am convinced the eggs are no longer viable. I am going to make the tough decision tomorrow morning to remove the eggs. The question is should I remove the entire nest or just the eggs. What are the chances she will lay new eggs in the old nest or is it better for her to hopefully start over. I feel absolutely terrible about this, but this is the peril of being a EABL landlord. :(
My unprofessional advice would be to remove the whole thing just like what would happen if it were raided by a raccoon or bear. She will rebuild the nest and lay a new set of eggs.
I know things like this are not easy but after 27 days I cannot see anything happening.
