Well it’s been a while since my last nesting update here in Corntown, Indiana. This year I had 3 nesting’s of PROWs. The first failed due to a House Wren attack. But a few weeks later the PROWs did return and were successful with 5 fledglings. A day or two before the big day I spotted a female PROW going in an out of a different box on the same side of the yard with nesting material. I do not know if it was the same female since I could never spot her with the other female at the same time. I also had 2 or 3 chipping sparrow nestings in the little spruce tree. I did not check on these since they were very low to the ground and this tree’s needles are very pointy. A female Cardinal built a nest in one of the Redbud trees but then abandoned it shortly after laying at least 2 eggs. This is the second year in a row that I did not have any BB nestings. Well that’s about it.

August 12, 2016 at 5:28 pm #28543 PROW nestings!!That’s incredible. A little tree swallow is my little buddy and will come up really Close to me when I’m out on the patio drinking my coffee. I love having her visit. My joy was cut short though as my husband witnessed her feeding two or three cowbird babies. I’m torn on whether to keep helping her feed them or not.

Tammy, I don’t think I could continue to help her. Her poor TRES babies.

September 26, 2016 at 4:48 pm #2938Thank you Gin and Tammy I love tree sparrows and was lucky enough to have one nest in the little spruce tree one year.
I forgot to mention in my original post that the third nesting of PROWs did fledge successfully and I was able to see two leave.
