HEYYYYY everyone.
I’m transient what can I say!? life gets in the way – sometimes puppies and horses and kitties take over from my bluebirding family.
I kind of got lazy the last couple of years and haven’t seen much action – we didn’t lets HOSPS nest but we also didn’t do SUPER active controls (removing nests etc but not trapping…)My mom was pouting about missing her TRES and not having seen blues and being tired of pulling nests so I have put some actual efforts in the last few days with the trustee VanErt.
This morning I see sunshine here in Southern Ontario and my efforts are paying off as a TRES is sitting on top of one of our boxes.
The rest of the yard is filled with life as well due to moms dedication to the grape jelly and other feeders – we have red breasted grossbeaks, orioles (soooo pretty!) finches and other backyard feeders.!!

TRES are hard at work on a bright sunny day!
May 21, 2019 at 4:15 pm #7280Countrygirl, things are looking up! I’m happy to hear the TRES are building. We still have cold rainy weather, but all the trees and plants are looking wonderful. The past few days we have had a scarlet tanager coming to eat the oriole’s grape jelly. We’ve not seen one before…..he is such a beautiful red. Do you get them in Ontario? Good luck!

May 22, 2019 at 11:55 am #7292Hey Judy,
I would have to look at my book. Its possible, dont think I Have seen one, though some are orange-ish by the looks of it and could be mistaken for orioles if you were not experienced as i learned the first year that I had to identify TRES and Barn swallows and so on, I haven’t been at this as long as some in the forum. I will consult my book!May 22, 2019 at 11:55 am #7293how ya been Tammy?!?!
May 23, 2019 at 12:00 pm #7308Doing well. I have a 17 mos old granddaughter that is just such a delight and one more on the way. I’ll include a couple of photos later.
