Remember Jerry who has the large boxes on the trail that I manage? He has some health issues so called me and asked me to watch his boxes this season. Bless his heart. He wouldn’t trap so I’m trapping. Tried yesterday in this box with a complete HOSP nest. Nada. Tried today…checked the box 7 times. When I would stop by each time I would see the male and female going in and out of the box without tripping the trap. I even changed the screws so the trip mechanism was up higher…..Nothing!! SEVEN times I checked. Tomorrow is a new day and I had BETTER find it tripped in the morning!!
Another thing. His boxes inside are 6 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 9 1/2. Remember those big boxes? Is there any easy way to make that space smaller so a dee or bluebird doesn’t have to spend so much energy filling the box?

April 16, 2016 at 1:37 pm #1476Remember the Troyer slot box? The plan that Mr. Troyer drew for that box showed a little cup made out of wood that you placed inside the box, exactly like your idea with the plastic thingy.
I like Gin’s idea, too. Get out your saw and go for it!
